The Manas trial is the largest trial of a mental health intervention in low and middle income countries. Manas is a cluster RCT of a stepped care intervention for common mental disorders (CMD) delivered by lay health workers. 24 primary health care facilities in Goa, India, were randomised to receive enhanced usual care (control) or stepped care. Result show that the intervention led to improvements in recovery from CMD among patients attending public health facilities.
