Dr Elaine Flores

Elaine C. Flores is a PhD Candidate at the Centre of Global Mental Health, in the EPH faculty of London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. She also is a Peruvian physician by Universidad San Martin de Porres (USMP) and has a M.Sc. degree in Epidemiology Research, from Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia (UPCH).

She is also affiliated to Emerge – The research unit in Emerging Diseases and Climate Change, part of the Faculty of Public Health of UPCH and CECLIMBE – The research center of Clinical Epidemiology and Medicine of USMP. She is   a core member of PLASMA, the Platform for Social Research on Mental Health in Latin America.

She is a former lecturer in biostatistics and clinical research in the Postgraduate section of the Faculty of Human Medicine (USMP) and have also worked in different Master modules in LSHTM as Seminar Lead, Statistics computer practical facilitator and assessment reviewer. She also has several years of professional experience in clinical research operations, quality assurance and management. Since 2007 she has collaborated as a primary care volunteer in the Peruvian American Medical Society (PAMS) and Real Medicine Foundation (RMF) medical missions for deprived communities in the province of Ica, Peru, among other volunteer positions.

She is especially interested in mental health in vulnerable populations, gender and social inequalities & poverty, disasters and the impact on mental health of environmental-related factors and humanitarian crises.
