Assistant Professor in Mental Health

Biksegn has completed PhD in Public Mental Health from the University of Cape Town. He is currently an Assistant Professor at London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) working for the UK Public Health Rapid Support Team (UK-PHRST) and doing mental health-oriented research in infectious disease outbreaks. He is also deployable during public health emergencies to provide capacity strengthening activities and MHPSS along with other emergency response programmes in low- and middle-income countries. Prior joining the LSHTM, he has taught different course and supervised the dissertations of several postgraduate students at public universities in Ethiopia. He has been involved in mental health research since 2014 and published systematic reviews and primary research articles.

Biksegn is currently working in the UK Public Health Rapid Support Team (UK-PHRST) and doing mental health-oriented research in outbreaks, involved in deployment and capacity strengthening activities in outbreak response programmes. The UK-PHRST is a multidisciplinary programme that conducts high quality research and provides capacity building on outbreak preparedness and response in low- and middle-income countries.
