Report: Celebrating 10 years of the Centre for Global Mental Health

In October 2019 the Centre for Global Mental Health published a 10 year report showcasing the achievements of the Centre in our first 10 years.

The Centre was founded as, and remains, a collaboration between the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience at King’s College London, and the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine. The complementary strengths of these two institutions create a unique environment for a diverse range of research and a rich learning experience.

This first decade of the Centre has mirrored huge progress in the area of Global Mental Health. We can proudly claim to have had members of the Centre at the heart of most of these developments. Their pioneering research, high quality teaching, outspoken advocacy and leadership have largely contributed to the field of Global Mental Health as it is today.

As the founding directors, Prof Martin Prince and Prof Vikram Patel, point out; ‘the Centre has not and could not do this alone. Equitable partnerships with other institutions has been our signature principle. We are now part of a network, spun across Latin America, Africa, and South Asia, with important links to institutions in North America, Europe and Australia.’  The main asset of the Centre is the large number of distinguished researchers from a wide range of countries and disciplines which have all made their contributions to the success of the Centre.

The Report highlights the Centre’s achievements in numbers as well as presenting key research projects, high impact publications, public engagement activites and illustrating our global reach.
