Bold Ideas for Brighter Futures 2026: ALIVE Presentations

Members of the ‘Improving Adolescent mentaL health by reducing the Impact of poVErty (ALIVE)’ research consortium presented their study findings at the Bold Ideas for Brighter Futures conference in Cape Town, South Africa on 18-20 May. ALIVE is led by a team from the King’s Centre for Global Mental Health, including Principal Investigators Prof Mark Jordans and Prof Crick Lund. Presenting at the conference were ALIVE team members Daniela Trujillo (Innovations for Poverty Action, Colombia), Dr Roxanne Jacobs (University of Cape Town, South Africa), Dr Nagendra Luitel (TPO Nepal, Nepal), and Dr Maria-Cecilia Dedios (Johns Hopkins University, USA).

“After almost 5 years of work, it is very exciting to present our findings at this vibrant, multi-cultural and inter-disciplinary conference, focused on the mental health of children and adolescents from diverse and challenging circumstances,” said Prof Jordans. The theme of the conference was ‘Connecting research to action’. The conference was hosted by the Stellenbosch University Institute for Life Course Health Research, the Karolinska Institute and UNICEF.
